Can you help me find the best supplier(s) of reasonably priced bamboo flyrod blanks that come varnished with ferrules installed?
Have neither money nor time to make my own blanks but would really like to know supplier sources of well made, well tapered blanks.
Rediscovering the world of bamboo flyrods... slower but with great nostalgia!
Thanks for any help.

Want help with Spine finding/ guide spacing on NFC 805-4 Iconoglass Fly Rod
Haven't built one of these before. Is finding the spine important? And what about guide spacing/ size for this 8' 5 wt. fly rod?
Any suggestions for guide sizing, spacing? And wrap thread sizes. And difference from usual graphite rods, or go silk and lighter?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Herb and Tony..... Tom this rod is not about money... but sentimental value of something my father fished for years. I want to honor that.
But does anyone know if "The Classic Fly Rod Forum" still exists?

Curious about the provenance of my father's old Bronson bamboo rod, 9', 3 sections, model 330-9. It is in bad shape but is
it worth refurbishing? I suppose sentimental value only. Tip section has lost male ferrule, other two ferrules rusty, but still
work. Wonder what color wraps it had originally ? Blank needs old varnish taken off, various mid-wraps (to hold it together
I suppose

Robert: I want to make it nice but for fishing. I make my own grips but bought the reel seat....burled wood, downlocking NS band, Using Pac Bay light wire chrome plated guides and agate stripper guide. ns plated.
But were there ever suggested guide spacing for the Payne 97 taper? Or does it depend upon the builder?
Thanks to everyone giving me some

I've just bought my first bamboo blank, a Payne 98, 7', 4/5 wt. Any tips on building this rod would be appreciated.
Since this is a new blank, does it still need decorative wraps as old bamboo rods all had? What is best guide spacing/ sizes
for this rod? And is linseed oil a good finish for this rod? And is Flexcoat Light ok for finish for all guide wraps?

I have recently gotten into the art of feather inlays but lack good sources of exotic feathers.
Can anyone suggest sources of small exotic feathers, particularly for inlaying on flyrod blanks?
Has anyone ever feather inlayed a trout fly on a flyrod blank? Please point me to source material,
articles, techniques and feathers.

Does anyone know a good source of Jungle Cock capes with beautiful nails? Smaller nails...better. Or the nice shoulder pins (orange, yellow)?
Want to use the nails in inlays for rod blanks.... but don't want to pay higher prices. Any source in US? or UK?
Appreciate any leads. Thanks

Flexcoat CP again. Should I just put Dr. Martin ink on blank, no Flexcoat CP, coat over with Flexcoat epoxy and
hope for the best?

What is the best blank and components for 9', 4 piece, 11 wt., Salt Flyrod for Tarpon? Never built a salt flyrod and appreciate assistance in planning for client.
What guides/ components are best suited for the saltwater conditions? How large (long, diameter) should cork grip and reel seats be? Brands that stand up best
in salt conditions? Any precautions in crafting such a rod?

I am building a 13', 7/8 wt. spey rod and want to be sure to find the spine. I have a spine finder (2 ball bearing raceway, one in each end of finder) and according to
Dale Clemens (in Advanced Custom Rod Building) when you push down on the tip the blank will roll to point where effective spine will be on top. Is this accurate in
your experience? A friend says no... the spine is heavier

For those who have glued up cork sections to make flyrod grips........what substance or anti-glue do you use to keep cork disks (sections) from gluing to mandrel while being
glued together? Mud Hole sells a product called "steel turning mandrel wax". Does it work for my need? Thanks ... Sam Slack

I want to glue and shape cork pieces together to form flyrod grips. Will I need a wood lathe? And are there any cheap, but good, mini wood lathes to
fit on a workbench? And do both head stock and tail stocks need chucks to firmly secure a steel mandrel placed through cork stock (i.e. glued together)
like you have on a power drill? Has anyone ever made a wood lathe using a power drill

SHOULD SLEEVE BE 3/4" OR LONGER?
