I got an issue . I have a heavy duty rod that needs a new rear eva grip, It has to measure 16' and I have to put it on from the rear up due to the amount of guides, etc on the rod.My problem is that the butt end of the rod measures 1' and can`t seem to find an eva grip with an id so big. The biggest one I`ve found has a 3/4" ID. Iv`e tried reaming but it`s very tedious and time comsuming.I`m

Someone gave me his broken two piece surf rod to try to mend. The top part was cracked about six inches up from the bottom of the half. He wants to keep the rod 2 piece. I was thinking of gluing half a dowel into the bottom half of the rod and leaving the other half of the dowel to enter the top half. What do you guys think? What should the dowel be made of?

A friend of mine gave me a project to do He broke his favorite rod at the front grip above the reel seat. I have to try to join the pieces by inserting a piece of scrap rod and epoxying the two ends together. If successful my concern will be the durability of the finished project.Any feedback would be appreciated

I `m having difficulty finding black guides for saltwater light rods. I know Fuji no longer makes them but other companies like American Tackle and Pac Bay aren`t stocking their guides to wholesalers. I`m only looking for quality name brand guides for my builds.

I`ve been building rods for decades and have used Flew Coat for the majority of my builds with approval. I`m getting low and soon I will purchase more epoxy. I`m thinking of trying this Gen4 epoxy. Any feedback from users? How`s the pot life and bubble issues.

I spoke to the owner. He`s putting either a Van Staal or Zeebass spinning reel on the rod(Century Sling shot). He previously taped the reel on place but now wants a plate reel seat put on.

A local tackle shop gave me a surf rod that has cork tape wrapped on the butt end and no reel seat, The owner wants a plate reel seat installed on it.I never installed a pate reel seat. How far up from the end cap should the seat be mounted. Can the seat be epoxied over the cord tape before wrapping?Or should sone of the cork tape be removed to allow direct contact between the blank and reel seat

I`ve made many spinning rods in my time for saltwater use. I`ve noticed that on most guide layouts for 6-6.5 ft. rods the lead guide is 30 mm. A lot of the older store bought spinning rods had a 40mm lead guide on them,Which is a better size lead guide to use?. It seems that the line rubs against the 30mm guide more so than the larger guide.

Roger, This rod is the first and only acid wrapped rod I have and a couple of times last year the line got wrapped around the tip while casting.Maybe I just have to use it more to get used to it.

I bought a Tsunami slow pitch acid wrapped rod last year and was thinking of removing the guides to make it a straight guide alignment rod. My only dilemma is if by doing so would effect the torque on the rod. I don`t know if the rod was spined correctly by the manufacturer.

I see Fuji has introduced a new lighter K guide recently. It looks good for inshore applications.I`m curious on why Fuji made the guide with a sloped ring. The ring leans forward, making me think that the line would touch a part of the ring periodically. Any ideas??

Spoke to a friend of mine the other day who told me he uses flex coat 2 part 15 min epoxy to wrap guides for clients who need their rod in a hurry. He says he applies it with a small spatula and when it dries its as smooth and good looking as any rod guide finish, He said it stands up well to the elements. Any feedback?

I was using 20lb.braid with a mono top shot (20lb) jigging the bottom about 1 foot off the bottom. No swivels used.I mostly used rods I made. This is the first store bought rod with an acid wrap that I bought. I bought it because it is a slow pitch rod and the price was right. Think I`m going to put the guides in line

I was using the rod while bucktailing fluke in Long Island Sound. It involves steadily jigging the bucktail and the line would wrap around the last guide and tip. The last few guides and tip are of the micro variety
