Hey Scott,
I use the rod works over in South Australia for some stuff but I check MO tackle and exclusivetackle too and generally go with the best price, but sometime it depend on the cost and what im buying. Mudhole is good to deal with and has by far the best range of gear to pimp your custom rods up, but there postage outside of capital city kills ya here unless your buying enough to build

Terry,
I have both Visual weave and Visual wrap, I find visual wrap a little hard to use because i'm not fully up on the Wrap lingo, but I have used the visual weave several times and it is very easy to use, and the visual weave/wrap web page is also very helpful as is the owner David Boyle
Cheers

G-day Tristan
about 2 and a half years ago i built a GT poppin stick for a weeks fishin at mackerel island just of the Western Aus coast i used the 50-100lb CBR tuna poppin blank an to be honnest i didn't really push it to it limits as most of the GT we caught were about 10 to 15kg but a mate caught a massaive chinaman that wouls have been close to 1.5m plus. i know the 50 to 100lb is a but he

G-Day Jason,
I used the Virtus double footer Heavy's on my 80lb GT poping stick and my 100lb jig stick they a nice guide but are a tad heavy in weight but we did land some nice baby Gts in the 10 to 15kg range and a huge chinaman that would have been at least a meter twenty and a 50kg plus flowerpot cod and they showed no sign of moving/bending although both my rods were spin i think they wou

Barry,
Being a black tie event they will most likely either raffle the rod or they will @#$%& it off. so you could make a general purpose light stick for the likes of bream, trout, flattie, school jew, light snapper and cod or being black tie they more game or outside fishing. either way you go there will be people there that will use it and other that won't but with it being a black tie char

Mark,
From what I have seen and dealt with the Mag bass they all seem to be fast action with a medium to heavy power rating and heavier in line rating I like using these for the likes of Barra, school Jew, Murray Cod and big flatties when I’m really ripping plastics
where the spin jig blanks are generally fast action but light to medium power and lighter line ratings I normally use these

I used pro wrap for quite a few rods and then i brought a Madeira kit and they are a lot brighter and a lot more vibrant then most of the pro wrap colours but as Col said they are an embroidery thread which contains silicon so CP is required. I know the pictures in a lot of the supplier’s catalogues don’t the Madeira thread any justice.
I think both are good threads and use them side by si

Ridge,
I have been waiting for five days now and it is ticking me off that you buy visualwrap program from a well-known supplier install it, and then you have to email you details and serial number that came with the program to someone else to get an activation code. Why not put the activation code in it like every other piece of software you buy.

Mark,
I built the St Croix 3C60MHF for a mate and brought the 5C60MHF for myself but the 3C60MHF it is a very nice blank I cut 6 inches off the bottom making it 5' 6' because of the fishin I do when I head home chasing Murray cod from a kayak the short rod makes it easier to flick in under the willows. I built both using a 12 mm stripper 10mm double foot than the rest 8mm single foot, I under

I have had the same issue with an Okuma 6500 in a 16 sized Project X reel seat that i build for chasin snapper, I had to shim it out with some brass shim sheet, then about 3 months ago i replaced the Okuma with a stella 5000 and the reel fits in like a glove without the shims

Tristan,
I have built a S781-MHX blank i find the tip is a little whippie but still works quite well for poppering whitting (haven't used it chasin bream yet) although my mate buit his father in law a SJ781-MHX (6-10lb) kit for chasin flatties and he throwin poppers almost as far.

I really don't want to sound like I having a dig at you all but I honestly would be worried about a paying an extra dollar here or there if the service is there but just a thought. if you think you are getting ripped off think about this then Australian Dollar is pretty much dollar for dollar with the American dollar, Yet I buy all my rod building parts out of the America because even with the o
