I forgot my original password and was sent a new one. I don't care for the new one and would like to create one that I would prefer. Does anyone have an idea how to go about it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Pat, just trying to avoid any problems as this is my first time using Madeira. Appreciate you comment.

I just got some Madeira polyester thread and was wondering if anyone puts a small piece of it in their finish before applying. I've heard both sides and was wondering what most builders do. I think it's supposed to prevent fish eyes, but not sure.

I see my previous post got deleted, no big deal as you don't like negative posts. Just to let you know Tom, I'm still waiting for the latest issue. You said some get it earlier and some get it later. Well I would think that May 13th should be later enough, and still nothing. You mentioned before that if my not renewing was to upset you it failed. That was never my intention to upset you as you re

Still no Rod Maker, I think if I don't get it this week, I'll just not renew. Something is definitely wrong with the system.

Bill, No I didn't level the blank, just put it in my dryer and applied it. Adam, you're as to my problem. Where the blank is the OD is smaller then where the wrap is. The wrap is220 mm in length. Tom, really hoping for a better way but don't know what that way is. I guess I'll have to try what you said. Thanks everyone.

Just finished putting on a third coat of Prokote on my decorative wrap. Noticed that the area where the blank shows is lower than where the threads are. Does anyone know why or how this happens? Can't figure out what's going on. Has this happened to anyone else, and what's the answer to correct it? Thanks for any help.

I wrapped the guides on a rod with ProWrap NCP and when i put the finish on (Pro Coat) the gold colored thread took on a "wet" look which darkened more than i liked. I feel you should use CP on all threads, both NCP and Nylon. Don't see what harm it'll do, and that way you know the colors won't change.

Randolph, i was referring to larger type spinning guides not micro guides. I read at one site they said the more and bigger guides you use adds weight and effects the action. They said to use the least amount of guides in the smallest size after the reduction and choker guides to accomplish what you want. And that is to have the line follow the curver of the flexed blank with equal distant from

That's what i like about rodbuilding, nothings etched in stone. Just do what you want. This whole spine thing is just one confusing area. I'm finding out the they used to say one guide per foot plus the tip top, then changed to one per foot plus one, then the tip top. Now the lastest is see is the fewer guides you use the better. It justs comes down to do whatever you want and make it look good.

Just a quick question. I'm getting ready to order some spinning guides for a build i'm doing. My question is how do you measure a guide? Do you measure the frame or the ring ? And do you measure the ID or OD? I guess my one question has two parts. Hope someone can help. Thanks muck, Jack

Since it's going to be a light inshore rod, i was thinking of using size A thread on both wraps, figured you only need size D on heavy duty rods.

I'm getting ready to do a saltwater fluke rod. I want to do an underwrap, then the usual guide wrap. My question is do most builders do the underwrap and put finish on it before doing the normal guide wrap, or do the do both wraps at the same time and put finish over both. I was thinking of doing both then put finish on, but i'm not sure the finish will get all the way through to the blank to bon

Thanks Billy for your input. I thought i was clear enough and glad you understood the question. And yes you're right, i do have you book, great book and good source on info, and i also have VisualWrap. I was just wondering how someone without your book and VW would go about figuring the spacing. Thanks again for your input. I'll be e-mailing you soon for some stuff. Later.

Thanks Capt, I guess i didn't make myself too clear. I know how to figure your basic lay out points for a cross, my question is how did the other builders figure out the spacing between a cross and a box for something like a St. John's Cross where you have a cross out, box in. That's the spacing i meant, sorry for not being more clearer about that.
