Thanks for the feedback. I purchase most of my supplies thru Angler's Workshop, but they are no longer able to ship any liquids, epoxy, varnish, etc into Canada. After many years of purchasing, our boarder @#$%& prevents me from getting such supplies.

Now that Gudebrod has passed into history, I am trying to locate a replacement for their product called Rod Restorer. It was an acrylic liquid that produced new like finishes when brushed onto old rod blanks.
IMO, it was a great product, one that was helpful in my repair business. My searches have come up nil.
I would appreciate any help in finding something similar if one exists.

Get out!!!!!!!!! Man how lucky can one guy be to hit a gold mine like that. I'd better start looking a bit closer when I pass by garage sales, for I'd love to have a lathe to turn my own cork grips......LOL!

Thanks for the feedback Gentlemen. Very interesting results. I too build all my rods downlocking for the same reasons as you fellows noted and at times will also cut down a reel seat to suit certain customer requirements on a particular rod and reel setup. Jim; Thanks for your reply. The guides on this particular rod are definately Y frame Fuji guides and that is what makes it so confusing, for they match the Fuji Hardloys that I have in stock.............model BMYLG.....Y frame gunsmoke finish in sizes 4.5 to 10 which have also been discontinued by Fuji. Just a curious question............I have noticed most spinning rods these days have reel seats installed in an uplocking position, whereas years ago those reel seats were installed in a downlocking position. Is there really any correct method of installation or is it just personal choice these days?

A customer recently asked me to recondition a 13'-6" SAGE float rod (custom built by others) which had a broken tip section. A new tip section has been received from SAGE and this fellow wants the broken tip kept as a spare.
