To avoid line twist on tip it could be a good idea to use one or two snake (instead of single leg guide) just before top.

If you plan to Fish with only nylon (no fly line) or with à Euro Nymph Line, take care of stripper position (should be placed nearer the grip to avoid line slag). I will use 12 to 13 guide (plus top).

Both (CTS an Swift) are very good blank. CTS offer more lenght and power choice. You can (not sure it is still possible) choose in two serie MX ou FX for graphite blank. I can't live without my CTS FX 863-4 as I dislike my CTS FX 864-4 (both need to be overloaded, at least for me). I'm really still impressed with the Epic 590C (true to weight), best 9' five weight for me. For me the 690C

Put the lightest guide you find. Alps signle foot Light Wire are my first choice (size 1 as the y don’t have smaller) you can also use REC light duty single foot.

It take me maybe a good 20 CF Grip to have the processus right (with test of different process and product). I can now make grip as I like (to be told to have at the end thé exact diameter I wanted). Multiple test told me I can now only gain weight on the core (for the finish I want). For fly Grip, in the size and shape I use weight in Cork is 14/16 grammes, my CF are in the same range, so for

Alter the #10 I put one off each size 3, 2 and 1 then all the other to tip size 1 or 1/0. With the new Fuji Sic slim (or Torzite) I only use one stripper size #10 (GMLKW10s is my favorite).

I use Alps single foot Light wire in the smallest size (1) if this can help.

It work fine if you only use euro Nymph Line or only nylon. Use Torzite guide to keep weight down ( T KTTG4 is a good choice).

I'm with Phil Alps LWTCHSFGP. For the last (or two) guide (the closer to the tip) some put snake guide to avoid line snag (when you fish only with nylon, Spanish style).

32" work fine for most. But for me on Light rods it’s to much. On my 8’6" or 9´ Line 3 to 5 I put it around 28" or 29".

This is why I glue reel seat first, then the grip. If you clean the cutout’ you should be fine.

I find it's difficult to make Carbon fiber grip as light as cork grip, and I make some ;-)

They are not threaded, on one end is drilles to go in the live Center and you have locking ring available (to lock the grip you’re turning).

Use the Razor/Scalpel method, to much risk to hit the thread if sanding resulting in fuzzy.

It all depends of you line to leader knot. If it pass thru size 1 or not (mine pass with ease on size 1). So I use 12/10 stripper, one size 3, one size 2 then size 1 thru tip.

I use acetone and add it after mixing (so I mix two minutes more after).

A fly rod is not only designed to cast, it should fish to. Some techniques need another location for the stripper. If at 32" it’s to far for me as I can reach it easily to grab my line when fishing’ On euro Nymph rod it’s way too far too as it don.t prevent the line from coming down when you fish with tip up. But I aigre in most cases and for most people 32" is fine’

Distance stripper vs end of Grip (top) is 20" on most rod’ I Go as low as 10" and never pass 21". On a fiberglass #5 15" to 18" should be fine (at least for me).

I too rate the Eternity ETES610MXF as exceptional. Ad a 3" or 4" soft bait Minnow to a 1/8oz to 3/16oz Jig head and you have a perfect bottom contact set up.

I use Aldebaran BFS and built a FC MB 661-1 (HM) to pair with. Can’t be happier. But it all depends what you want to do with. I use it to cas Small Minnow (1/8oz) and most of the time Micro Rubber Jig (1/32oz to 3/32oz) with 3" trailer’
