Hi:I looked in the library but no mention of this.
When locating the spine on a 4 piece fly rod
do you spine each piece individually?
Seems like this would be necessary except for the butt piece maybe...

Great ideas.Bingo.I have one contribution to mkae despite my lack of experience
Put the razor blade in a hemostat. It`s cheaper that an Xacto blade,at least the Harbor Freights ones are.
I`m getting alot of good info around this place.
BTW,I`m specialising in ultra light spey rods for my river
I think I have a good market around here.

Tx for the advise.
Now I need the guts out of the RW3x [I have the motor and pedal-is there a rheostat too?

This just in:A famous, well respected,un-named rod builder claims that many of the off shore builders are using UV glue.
This is fast, ultimately resulting in more profitsbut is not wthout it`s problems, apparently.
UV can`t take the rigors/demands of heavy pressure a will fail over time.
Anyone notice this..especially Beulah owners>
I don`t mean to start a rumor, but I want to know the limit

That would be me.
But I just found something important out
Right now,I`m 1/2 way thru my 5th flyrod.
It`s a Mesier combo Spey [12`6"]
Single [9`3" 6wt].
What happened in my learning curve is that I removed the anxiety
I can do this by multi-tasking,taking breaks frequently but mainly by recognizing that it is there.
In me,anyhow.
Up til now,I`ve been so concerned about epoxy d

Thanks for the replies,?Guys.I appreciate them.
I for got to mention this i s a spey rod.
So,It ha s a n upper and lower cork.
The real seat is trapped between them.
Right nmow,I`m thinking how to get a tiny drill bit on my dremal\
a drill a groove is the ring....

So the inlet groove is facing the wrong gway.
A new mistake for me.I tried to dremel a notch in ut but it is too thick.
I really don`t want to "boil the butt" or cut it off but what else can i do?

That`s my new mission maybe.
I have Bob Meiser`s "Troutmaster Combo"
which is a 9`3"6 wt. single handed rod that converts
toa 12`6" Spey 5-6 wt.
So,what happens if I attept to use this common butt...
for 4 wt.?
Will this butt be to heavy?
Is this a deal breaker?
What do you think?

Tx Fellers.I believeI`ll do a little test with acrylic, polyurethan and epoxy then hit the rod section witha garden hose for awhile and see what happens.
The problem is that epoxy seems to obscure the colors of the feathers....but maybe it`s pilot error...don`t know yet...

I`m wathing Russ Gooding video. He uses epoxy.Do you?
What about varnish?Anyone have experience with anything else?
I`m curious since I`m about to build a Meiser conversion rod ...
