I am building a 9ft 4pc 11wt rod. on the tip section the spacing is a follows. 4", 8 5/8, 14", 20" and 26 7/8. the last guide lands right next where the ferrule wrap will end. and I mean right next to it. Do I do it all one wrap or do I leave a very very small gap? What do you do if a guide lands mid way through a ferrule? Thanks for all your help!!

I just got some blanks and have noticed two things. One the blank changes color near the bottom of the blank but it will show after I get the rod done. The other thing is bubbles in the factory finish on the top 1/4 of the blank. These were not cheap blanks. They are Musky/Saltwater jigging blanks. What are your thoughts on this? Ever see it before?

I fish Batson 10wt rods in Alaska. I have an RX-7 and an RX-6 and I love them both. If they will do a silver salmon in the swift water of the Kenai they will do just fin on the ocean. Our whole group fishes batson that I built for them. I made up a few of the newer ones this winter and cant wait to try them out this summer

I am building a rod and need the thread to be the brightest it can be. I am using hot orange and would like it to stay that way. My NCP hot orange thread has the washed out look. kind of muted. I bought some non NCP thread and it really bright like I want. if I give it a few coats of color preserver will it get that washed out look? Also does color preserver keep some of the epoxy from soaking in

I cant stand 4pc rods. More money. More hassle keeping them all straight while fishing and a stronger rod can be had in a 2pc. I think they fish better as well I love 2pc 9ft fly rods!

My RX-7 Fly rods have endured my Alaskan fishing trips and they get abused up there. Foul hook a 10lb Red in a fast flowing river and now you have to drag it in. They are not only crisp, light and very sensitive they are also tough! I have built about a dozen RX-7 10wt fly rods for Alaska and other that a car door and a fall taken by yours truly they are all going strong! Scott Semper Fi Bro

I am looking for a Batson blank for halibut fishing in Alaska. I would like a very soft tip so when a fish hits it wont strip the herring off the hook and enough backbone to fish 50 - 65lb line. I would like a ton of flex in the front 1/3 to 1/2 the blank and a strong back half. I would like a 6'6 rod. I really like Batson blanks as they are not only fantastic blanks but the Batson are great peo

I am building a new rod that comes with a rubber butt cap/fighting butt. Will my regular rod bond work for gluing it to the blank? I did not think epoxy would stick to rubber. Any thoughts>

Greetings I am wondering if any of you know anything about this blank. I can pick one up for a reasonable price and am wondering how it would work for a saltwater jigging rod. I plan to fish 40 or 50lb braid with it. Any thoughts?

Get Bit had these on close out so I picked up a kit. I plan on using it for a saltwater jigging rod in Alaska. Have any of you built and used one of the IMU blanks? Also I am looking for suggestions as to what color to make the guide wraps as its a Titanium Chrome finish blank. Thanks for your help!

You also need to put it in a warm place one the epoxy sets up after a day. I had it where after a day it was still tacky. I put it in a warm room and in a few hours it was good to go. Mix up a new batch and reapply a thin coat. Then after a few days put it where its warm for a day and you should be good to go

For sure i am going to put a coat of finish on the underwraps. I dont trust it that the finish will soak through two coats of NCP thread and adhere to the blank along with filling in the tunnels.

I am doing a few heavy saltwater rods and for the first time i will be doing underwraps. My question is this. I will wrap the underwraps and apply a coat of finish. In a few days i will wrap the guides over the underwraps that have been finished. Do i need to scuff up the finish on the underwraps to help the new coat adhere better?

Here is my question. I am building a saltwater rod and would like to use regular thread. I will need to use CP to keep the color of the thread. With this rod i will be using some larger guides and want to make sure the epoxy saturates the thread. What impact will CP have on how well the epoxy penetrates and over all strength of the wrap compared to not using CP?
