I have a page I laid out on my computer and saved it as a template. I can just call it up and fill it out as I need to. I print out a copy and then also save an electronic copy on my computer. The template remains open and ready for use for the next one.

I keep the records of all the rods I make and who they are sold to, the serial number I put on them, how much they sold for and all the wrapping details and handle measurements. I also put a photo box in a corner so I can scan and add a photo of any decorative work I did to the rod.

So I have a copy on the computer, a paper copy and a copy on back up disk. Should be pretty safe and I can recall details in an instant.

Once you set up one template you shouldn't need to do another. I use ClarisWorks/Appleworks and it's really easy. There are also some stock templates for various business things that could also be used. You can probably do the same thing in MS Word or Works although it will be more difficult. I think they also have templates but call them Wizards or something. Try to pick something close and then alter it to suit your needs if the software will allow you to do so.
