Im about to build two grips and was wondering what is the prefered
glue product.

I was thinking about using two ton epoxy but read in a post somewere that someone used a urathane wood glue (maybee tite bond) and that helped hide the ring lines?

by all means use an epoxy very important that you have a cork press clamp to compress the rings and squeeze all excess epoxy out and hold tight during cureing time i know some folks reather
use a mandral of sorts but i reather clamp up on my blank it helps a couple ways 1st you cut out a extra step altougether,2nd
no need to worrie if you cork is setting up stright trust me clamp it up with out a mandral of sorts and watch it bow .....
besides you will be getting a better bond with the blank this way

I use Flex Coat epoxy (Devcon or others are nearly identical) to glue my rings. I don't have much in the way of glue lines. Rod Bond can be used, but you'll want to completely cover the ring faces and then scrape off any excess before clamping.

Tite Bond (yellow would be my choice) is also used by many with good results.

Just don't try to glue the grip to the blank with anything other than an epoxy. Old type urethane adhesives such as Dow's urethane bond would certainly work, but not many of the specialty urethane wood working adhesives such as Gorilla Glue.

I use Rod Bond and clamp rings on 1/4" threadrod (use wingnuts and 1 1/4" washers on each end). Gluelines are nearly non-existant. I used to use Devcon, but I like the rodbond because of the paste-like consistency. I am very messy and would always get epoxy all over everthing, the Rod Bond stays exactly where you put it. But, just like Tom said, you need to be sure you "wet" the cork good with rod bond. I lay on a coat about 1/16" thick on all rings, then compress and wipe off excess that sqeezes out.
I guess, as you can see, their are a few good methods. Try them all and see what YOU like best.

I always use epoxy to glue preformed grips on to blanks.

I was just wondering what glue to use for rings. I ll pick up more epoxy.

I am planning on using a mandrel as ill be turning the grip on a friends lathe.

I not conifident enough to turn a grip on the Blank, Cuz I know
theres a good chance I 'll have to redo something!! For now the mandrel method makes sense!!

Make sure to coat the mandrel with someone that prevents the epoxy from permanently bonding the rods to the mandrel. I use paraffin wax on a smooth mandrel. It'll hold fine for shaping and turning but can be "popped" off the mandrel when you are done.

When using rodbond to glue your cork rings, spread the mixed resin over the surface of a cork, then scrape it ALL OFF. Scrape diligently, assemble the corks and apply tight clamp pressure. Check each bond area to be sure that you have absolutely NO squeeze out. If there is squeeze out, there will be some bond line. No squeeze out means no visible bond line. You wind up with ONE long cork. I will demonstrate this at the conclave.

Listen to Ralph he is the master. When I build a custom cork handle I us a piece of old blank for my mandral, just a tad smaller than the rod I am going to put the handle on. I use rod bond when glueing the cork to the mandral. I then use parifine wax on the mandral to keep the bonding agent from glueing to the mandral. After the glue is dried there is still enough pressure on the mandral to shape your cork. All you need to do to release the cork from the mandral is twist it off or with a light bit of pressure with a push stick to release the cork from the mandral. Now all you have to do is ream out the cork handle to fit the blank and glue that on. I don't like building cork handles on the rod I'm building, because I have in the past had accidents happen where i have broken the butt section.
