Happy New year to all, I would like to know when placing guides on a two piece blank if it is advisable to keep the guide away from the ferral. I have seen a handcrafted rod where the guide was right on the ferral ( a spinning graphite St. Croix SC2). I haven't had the situation but would like to know what is acceptable when I need to cross that bridge. It seems that is OK but just wanted to ask. Seems like a good question as to what theories are out there. Thanks in advance Mark Schulte Re: 2 Piece blanks

It is perfectly okay. Take a look a bit further down for answers to the same question. ............... Re: 2 Piece blanks

Mark, I am sure this is heresy but I put a guide on the ferrule of every two piece rod I build. You need to wrap the ferrule anyway and chances are there will be a guide within 3 inches as well. Why not kill two birds with one stone and eliminate the weight of an extra wrap. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
