are the SC III blanks that are rated ultralight (2-4 lb test) truly light and nimble blanks. I want to order one for a fellow who wants a 6' rod to use it for small stream trout, but I don't want it to be too "stiff" (yeah, I know that's not the proper jargon, but you know what I mean). I just got a blank from a different well known company to build a six foot smallmouth rod, and the blank was rated for 2 to 6 lb test. The blank is so stiff and powerful that it I converted it and it is now a trolling rod for 4-6 oz bucktails using 15 lb. line. That is WAY OFF as far as representing the line rating as far as I'm concerned. Perhaps I am one who is lost in the new wave of fast actions.

I have dealt with quite a few of these St. Croix blanks recently and they are true ultralight models. I don't think you'll be trolling any bucktails with them.

I fish for trout on small streams almost exclusively. I use jigs from 1/32 to 1/64 oz. with 3 lbs. line. My favorite rod is an SCIII 5 ft. ultralight. My second favorite is an SCIII 6 foot cut down to 5 1/2 feet. I have a basement full of ultra-lights and a wife that wonders why I am always building another on. The SCIII is the best blank I have found for my style of fishing and I have tried quite a few.
