I own a high end airbrush and wondered if permagloss can be sprayed to do an entire blank. Also can urethane such as Varithane or Minwax spar urethane be sprayed as well or does it come out rough and gritty? Many thanks every one!! "John" Re: can permagloss be sprayed

John I use doulble action air brushes. I would not put permagloss through one. If you thin it up enough to shoot, I think you will ruin the permagloss. It might even start to harden up in the brush before you can clean it out. I am sure you know the viscosity of most air brush paints. Urethanes can be thined enough with the proper thinner. Have you heard of "House OF Kolors" out of Calf.? They make high end custom auto paint. Their whole line is based on urethanes. That's just my opinion. Bill Doherty Maybe

I know that many urethanes and especially the acrylic and two-part types can and are sprayed onto hundreds of different type products. Varithane and similar furniture and floor coatings can be sprayed for sure. I think they are just a tad different than the Permagloss though. I am not sure what you would thin the Permagloss with. Maybe an email to Ralph O'Quinn would get you the best answer. Re: Maybe

I have used Xylene to thin Permagloss thin enough to spray, but I had problems with egg shelling. I was using a refillable spray paint can. I'm sure that someone with better spray-painting skills and equipment could do better. I should warn you that the fumes are enough to put you out of commission if you don't wear a respirator. Good luck. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
