May have asked before but since there are some new distributer faces around here, will ask again. How many of you charge shipping on back orders and why? Inquiring small mind wants to know! Re: Shipping on back orders?

Another adding of my 2 cents. I do not have a problem getting charged a reasonable fee for back orders, but if an order is placed and you ship it to me in 3 separate orders, $20 S&H is not cool. Especially if I request ship all backordered items at once. Maybe I cannot see the whole picture, but I'd like to hear it myself. PS: I have not had this happen to me from any suppliers I buy from, but I have had it happen when ordering other goods (fly tying materials for one) Since Mike brought it up, I figured I'd add my 2 cents worth Billy charges

I have no problem with shipping charges on special ordered items that were not in stock. But if I place an order for items the dealer lists in his catalog and something that is supposed to be a regular stocked item is backordered, I expect that item to be sent to me when it arrives with no shipping charge. I know anyone can run out of something, but in that case the responsibility should fall on the dealer to get it delivered without any shipping charge to the consumer. Most I have dealt with are pretty good in this regard though. Re: charges

Mike, I think part of the problem is that carriers have increased their rates-- adding extra charges for oversized items, increases for fuel costs, and all that simply gets passed on. It's a bummer and especially irritating since they seem to be taking longer to deliver the orders. Summer Moon does not charge shipping for backordered items. Re: charges

Mike: If the items are standard stock ing items and we are out of stock we do not charge for shipping back orders. If they are special order We advise the customer what the delay will be, and ask if they wish to receive a part order or can they wait for one shipment. If there is a second shipment in this instance there will be a shipping charge. Comminicating with the customer on these situations is important to us.
