Has anyone used a security wrap on the Fuji BLBLG. The shape of this guide does not lend itself very well to these tyes of wraps. It is not that it cannot be done it is that it cannot be done without leaving a gap between the guide wrap and first locking wrap. I was hoping the Forhan Locking Wrap method may help but I do not believe it will solve this problem because you cannot wrap up this guide leg. Any thoughts?

You can wrap up the guide leg, and with the Forhan method you are only talking about 1/32nd inch or so. The trick on trying to reduce any gap between your regular wrap and the security portion lies in wrapping as far along the foot as possible and only then going around behind the guide leg. Once behind you must push these wraps back up against the regular guide wrap. Obviously this is much easier to do if you have a wrapping jig or lathe with some sort of reverse tension spring so you can get around the guide leg and then have the reverse tension recover what would otherwise be slack thread.

I got my copy and went right to it. Yes it's a great idea and one that makes you wonder why you didn't think of it yourself and sometime many years ago.

I am thinking that on the very small fly rod single foot guides I may just use one of the 'locking' wraps that encircles the guide. Maybe 2 if I can fit them in there. On the larger guides I'll go with the author's recommendation of 3 plus the blocking wraps as listed.

I agree completely William. Same thing with the hook keeper in the trigger of the reel seat. What a great idea Rich! I use it on everything now.
