With its current sale going on I was wondering if there is a blank from NFC that is good for Togging off piers and jetties with both jigs and rigs? perhaps something like the xray mb7109? thanks

For the durability needs of your fishery, I would lean more toward an MB808.

I have been using the SW704 with 3/4-1oz jigs in a small inlet and like it a lot. It is very sensitive and has handled fish up to 6lb with no problems. I am new to togging so don’t have anything to compare it to other than when I tried my sw767 but I put that to the side after 1 crab because it wasn’t nearly as sensitive. I just finished a sw764delta and have a mb764xray in the works that I will be trying out at some point.

NFC rod ratings are so confusing. sw764 delta IM LMX has a 1/2 - 3/4oz lure rating with a 6.1 tip meanwhile the sw704 IM LMX has a lure rating of 3/8 to 2-1/4oz with a 4.4 tip (make it make sense). Anyways, I wonder how much does the fast action vs moderate action have a play in the level of sensitivity you are experiencing. And for what its worth, I have the MB-764 X-Ray that I use for fluke in the inlets with 1/2oz - 3/4oz jig heads and jerk shads. Great sensitivity. I can feel every little thing.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have a rod that is similar in lure ratings (2-5oz) but that one is way too much of a broomstick for my liking. The MB808 Xray with a 3/4-6oz lure rating should have a lighter tip. I actually might get this one as a back bay rod for striped bass where I have to hand line them over pier railings.

I had ordered all these blanks in previous promotions to try them out for fluke in the surf. I just started targeting tog in the past month so I’m still trying to figure out what works best for me. I think the sw704 is a little short for my inlet with sloped jetty. I’m looking forward to trying the mb764xray but that won’t be for a while since I won’t be doing much building or tog fishing my focus will be primarily on chasing stripers for most of November
