hello all, does anyone know why or how to stop the epoxy from thinning at the top of the guide foot? When I apply epoxy it looks smooth and it does finish even and smooth, except for right on the top of the guide foot where if you put a light to it you can see the rough thread like there wasn't enough epoxy . I dont know if i need to be grinding my guide feet down or using more epoxy or if they are contaminated but it is a common occurrence, Its worse the bigger the rod foot gets

Thats where the largest overall diameter of the rod + guide foot is, so you need more thread finish to cover that section. Depending on the guide size and thread size, it can take 3 or 4 coats of thread finish to get the completely glass smooth look on the entire foot.

Multiple coats, really. In the beginning, if you are not using color preserver, the epoxy placed there will also wick into the tunnels, so you may have to add as it gets sucked in.

Get rid of the mechanical rod dryer and turn by hand. Not as time consuming as people will have you believe and gy selectively allowing the rod to sit on a particular axis for a slightly longer time than on another axis, you can direct the epoxy where you want it and have it easily cover the thread on the edges of the guide feet.

Use 2 thin coats instead of 1 thick coat, once the first coat drys apply the second and your problem should be solved
