Favorite single foot fly rod guides?

I will be wrapping up a new 9 foot 5 wt rod. I am wondering what single foot guides folks like the most.
I have used PacBay and Recoil. I prefer the Recoil but their pliable nature makes the single foots a bit harder to keep taped or rubber banded down to the blank. Has anyone used the Snake Brand single foots? And does the slightly concave curve in the foot make them easier to affix to the blank? Re: Favorite single foot fly rod guides?

David, I recently used the snake brand single foot for a fiberglass 8 wt that I built. They were very easy to wrap and needed no prep work. It was my first fiberglass rod and first time using single foot for fly and I was very happy with the performance using the single foot guides. One thing though, I used the rod in salt water and rinsed it off and dried it as I do all my rods and some corrosion developed at the "Y" on all the guides. Re: Favorite single foot fly rod guides?

Did you use the black nickel or the ECO coated finish? Re: Favorite single foot fly rod guides?

David,
I have tried REC Recoils, H&H, Snakebrand S/F guides. IMO they all have to be prepped to a fine point despite what the manufacturers state. I much prefer the Recoil RSFX over all the others because of their durability. Yes - the REC will "sing" if your fly line is dirty - so keep it clean. IMO - the Snakebrand S/F has a tendencity to "snap" at the ring/foot interface with some rough handling when prepping the feet/ I asssume metal fatigue. Not a factor with the REC Recoil. I saw no casting advantage with the legs on the H&H or Snakebrand. I do like the casting with Snakebrand Snakes, however. Herb Re: Favorite single foot fly rod guides?

I used the ECO coated finish. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
