Need opinions on what to do!

Date: October 20, 2024 10:21PM Hey guys, I turned some cork for this light finesse bass rod I’m building. I was originally going to use a Fuji dpssd seat with a small little cork foregrip that I turned as well for the top of the reel seat. It all looked real nice and simple. Fast forward to tonight, and I somehow got off center when drilling and reaming my reel seat which threw a wrench in my plans on gluing up the grip section tonight. This gave me time to just mess around with some of my supplies and I remembered I had this Fuji tvs seat that I never got around to using and messed around with it. When I orient it down locking, my rear cork grip matched up with it perfect. It actually feels better in hand than my original plan but I’m not sure what to do with the top portion of the seat area however. I thought about turning cork and shaping accordingly to put over the hood and threads, but the “foregrip” section will be thicker than the rear grip section due to the size of the hood, which I’m afraid won’t look right. I also thought about buying some longer metal checks to cap off the top of the grip and then wrapping thread up to it or bypassing the metal check altogether and doing an epoxy ramp. What would you guys do? Re: Need opinions on what to do!

Perfect Fit it, or change nuts and put a normal fore grip on it, I would cut the threads back a bit to the point that your reel barely fits, then when you are working on the rod spinning the nut back till it hits the cork always gives you the correct distance to put on or remove the reel in any conditions quickly. Perfect fit is a good idea I ordered a silver hood and corresponding rings to match the silver insert in this grip. I’ll give that a try and see how it looks! Re: Need opinions on what to do!

To use the TVS hidden thread hood you have to trim back the threads on the TVS reel seat. The TVS hidden thread hood is exactly the same size as the SK hidden thread hood so the Fuji BGKS cork hood sleeve will fit your hood or you can make your own.
[voodoorods.com] As Spencer mentioned, you can also use the Fuji or Matagi perfect fit trim parts. In either case, the threads on the reel seat need to be trimmed back, so no threads extend above the hood tube when the hood is screwed all the way down. Another option is to change out your hidden thread hood with the regular TVSS hood nut, and use a traditional foregrip or no foregrip. Hope this helps.
