I’ve been doing a little searching on the website here for more info on the two heavier versions of the apfg blanks. I haven’t found much on the All Purpose Fast Glass APFG787-1 or the APFG 786-1. Has anyone built on these blanks specifically for heavy crank rods. I have found a few other blanks I like for your 8-10xd type of rods but I’m interested in these two and just wanted to get some input on them.
Thanks guys Re: NFC all purpose fast glass

If you like glass blanks at all, the APFG is a terrific blank in my book. I have the 744, 745, and 786. For a glass blank, they are light, have a fast action, and what I call a "buttery bend" when they load up - that glass feel.
My CCS #'s are usually a bit lower than the average: APFG 786-1 IP= 637.5 AA = 75 ERN = 21.15 The 786 fishes a variety of deep cranks well - up to a DT20 size. I'd say any crank up to 1 oz. Price per value is very high, IME. Re: NFC all purpose fast glass

What is the difference between their fast glass, and that next gen honey gold blank that is in the freshwater section? Re: NFC all purpose fast glass

I've built two 787's and a 745, and I typically use the 787's for alabama rigs or small swimbaits. Knowing how the 787 and the 745 is, I think I'd go with the 786 for heavy cranks vs the 787 persronally. Re: NFC all purpose fast glass

Looks like power and action may be different, materials the same. Since the honey glass is in the freshwater section, I would take my lead from other blanks in the section. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
