Huge shout out to GetBit

I’ve recently had a couple of experiences with GetBit in which their staff went above and beyond with great customer service. They professionally knew sizes and color codes off the top of their head. Some of us experienced and posted before and into COVID that it appeared that they were going through some transition or growing pains. I only bring this up to assure anyone skeptical from back then that it appears to be long over. Four to five years ago is forever ago in a family run business. Anyway, I’m happy to put GetBit into my personal top tier of rod building vendors. I’m really big on VooDoo, but as optimistic and appreciative of GetBit. They have a vast selection of blanks and continually good promotions on Batson products. Carol at Utmost is awesome and so is Deb at rod Geeks. There’s room for a generous handful at the top, and I’m glad to go full circle to putting GetBit back there.

Great review! Many great outfits out there. No need to put up with long lead times and crappy customer service.

Get bit is at the top of my list for ordering materials. Great CS and very quick to ship.

Well, I will just chime in saying that yes they are quick at shipping. I've had 2 items not being what I initially ordered, it's been 10 days and 2 unanswered emails.
On another order they had a mislabeled item on their shelf so I had to wait a few weeks for the proper part to be shipped, it took 2 phone calls for it to be fixed.
They are still at the top of my list but as with every hobbyist website. I always carefully review the bill of material and match it with what I received. Great companies will actually follow-up and fix the mistakes.

The new one I tried was Voodoo, impressive response time given that I was asking for non inventoried parts and they sure care to verify the fitting of the parts you're ordering before shipping out.

And there's the problem with unsolicited spontaneous cheers for a company. The bad stuff gets aired too.

There's a problem with sharing a good experience with a company? I don't understand. I personally have bit my tongue for some time in regards to another sponsor of this forum. Mainly because I don't feel it would do any good. So I applaud the original poster for taking time to share a valid opinion. In other news, I ordered around 95 parts from Voidoo Rods about 1 1/2 hours ago and it has already shipped! Get Bit has always treated me like they appreciated me, as well as Mud Hole, rodgeeks, Decal Connection, and Piscari Cork. My hats off to those companies as well. I'll take the high road always.

My builds are low in total SKU count as they are without decals, complex thread art, color preserver, and cone of flight driven assortments of guide sizes. I still get 19-25 individual models of products and supplies on a rod. Some of these, like running guides, are used multiple times. This isn’t counting tools and supplies not applied to a rod such as brushes, syringes, mixing cups, mandrels, and reamers.

Utmost (which I haven’t ordered from very much and seems to mostly sell one brand of components) is the only supplier I’ve used that hasn’t messed up at least once in filling orders. My favorite supplier seems to struggle with picking running guides, but they see their inventory count is off after I email and ship the missing ones quickly. Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of a vendor with Jonathan’s typical order from above. Someone has to pick 95 parts from thousands that subtly differ. Imagine explaining to a temporary or new employee that one end of a part is in millimeters (sort of) and the other is in half-64th’s of an inch, and getting one in a wrong bin will completely stall a customer’s build. The picking and packing might be done by the principal or a family member who is also handling suppliers, customers, shippers, and the website. It might be an employee who has never built a rod and doesn’t understand the parts. It could be someone not quite up to 100% accuracy on a really tedious job at the given moment.

There aren’t many types of vendors who have to handle such a varied inventory for this volume of revenue. Even Mudhole isn’t an Amazon distribution center in order fulfillment and inventory management technology. Rod building vendors are also dealing with a high portion of customers who don’t exactly know what they need. It can’t be an easy way to make a living. I try to plan for plenty of acquisition time. If someone is responsive to a mistake, I happily move on. If I had to pick those 95 parts, Jonathon would have problems frequently on his orders.

I've had many dealings with GetBit, and there have been some instances where an issue arose. A realistic expectation for an organization of this size is not wether they make a mistake or not but it is how they deal with it. They have always made every effort to make the situation right. So yes, they make mistakes but they do the best they can to remedy it.

Getbit is the first place I look to when I order materials from. Friendly and honest staff that go above and beyond. I had one cork fly grip split in two when I was teaming it by hand. Sent them an email asking about ordering a replacement and they sent one for free, no questions asked. I never contact companies for replacements but I didn’t see it on the site so went that route. They’ve always been very reasonable with shipping and usually have stock when other places don’t.

I will continue to order through them for basically everything I can that’s reasonable.
