Tsuka 2 handle

So I’m building a rod and want to use the new tsuka 2 handle, I realize the rod sits in the handle about 5 or 6 inches I haven’t really measured just eye balling right now, if I want my finished product to be a 7’3” rod should I just trim the blank? Or purchase a smaller blank and go that route. My only worry about trimming the blank is changing the actual action of rod but would replacing the lost length with the tsuka 2 mitigate any loss in original action/power.

I haven't used the Tuska 2 handle, but I have built 3 rods using the NFC XO Skeleton handle, which is the same type of grip / reel seat combination. To answer your question, "would replacing the lost length with the tsuka 2 mitigate any loss in original action/power."

Yes it will. You're replacing the length of blank being cut off, with something that doesn't flex, which means power will go up, and the action will be faster. How much of an increase in power, and how much faster the rod becomes, will depend on the blank you're using. If the blank you're using has a stiff butt section, that flexes very little under load, the up tick in power and action shouldn't be too drastic.

If the blank you're using flexes deeply into the butt section of the blank, then the up tick in power and increase in action could be pretty substantial.

Since the Tuska 2 and the NFC XO Skeleton appear to be virtually identical, I am linking a thread I participated in where I have links to other threads I have started concerning using the XO Skeleton grip. You may find it very helpful in knowing what using one of these type grips could potentially entail

I'm also linking a thread where I posted CCS numbers for two of the rods I built using the XO Skeleton grip. In it you'll be able to see what I am talking about when I say how much change the grip will cause, depends on the blank being used.

Hope it helps you with the Tuska 2

Hey Brandon, if possible you're going to want to find a blank that will give you that 7'3" without cutting it. If you have to cut a blank it's not the end of the world. Depending on the blank and how moderate it is, cutting it could change the action for sure. Check out all of the different 6'8" to 6'10" blanks we offer! [mudhole.com]

Remember you don't have to bottom out the blank in the piece, once you have met or exceeded 6X the diameter of the blank butt you have met your strength needs.

Good Day all.
These are beautiful handles but I find them a bit short for my liking..
What would be the best way to increase the length by about 5" - 8"

Thanks

John I

John I, Are you mounting them using the reel seat or going full length with the blanks?

Evening Spencer
Thanks for the reply... I haven't built on the Tsuka handle yet but the length is quite short ,
14.69" The way I like to fish.. I tuck the handle into my elbow or sometimes into my belly.
If I could add an addition of an inner lining and an outer sleeve and then the butt cap
to add the desired length..
