I have a client that is asking for a Euro specific rod. I am a huge fan of CTS blanks, but I don't find much in the way of reviews on their new CTS XS. Does anyone have some experience they would share with me?
Thank you jerry Re: CTS Euro XS ?

Jerry,
The Solid Tip Euro XS is fairly new. A few of my customers have bought the #2 and like them. But no formal reviews that I know of. BTW - CTS still sells the "old" hollow tip Euro X's. Sorry I can't provide independant reviews. Herb Re: CTS Euro XS ?

You could probably look at this topic and see if Harry has an update to provide.
[www.rodbuilding.org] I've peaked at CTS but I find it to be a bit too expensive to justify buying yet another nymph blank. Solid tip aren't that new as Dean54 had those for the Cortland MK2 and Soldarini released the hydropsyche precision xul. Basically I am betting that CTS came up with an actual "in house" solid tip version because of an Italian rod builder was doing pretty much all the solid tip modification for years and he is a big fan of CTS. Solid tip can be added on any nymphing blanks and I added some to my NFC blanks but I wish you the very best of luck to find the solid tip that will do the job... (yes it voids the warranty and require to purchase an additional blank or a rod's section1 if you want to keep the rod's versatility with two tip sections.) I wish I had a chance to try the CTS but I don't think it will happen before I go to Europe to meet with friends who have that rod. Once Edge rods will expand their the models available for the Archetype series at $279.00 it will be extremely hard to beat that price. I own the Sage ESN, Maxia, Masternymph, Diamodnback, Cortland MK2 and tried the T&T Contact2, Hardy ..... While CTS is still in the back of my head, given NFC's pricing I'll go NFC hands down, buying multiple blanks and have spare rods and sections ready to replace. If your client has the cash for it and you still can get a margin on the build, I'd say go for the CTS and call Herb to see how soon you could get it. If the budget is tight stick to NFC during a sale you could get 10 blanks for 60$ Re: CTS Euro XS ?

Ben, thank you for the information, the client has deep enough pockets, I will likely go the CTS (maybe one for me too)

I built a nymph rod on and Affinity X 11' 3/4 wt. Its a sweet stick. It is sensitive and has handled 6 lb rainbows on a few famous western tailwaters. Re: CTS Euro XS ?
