“Pens” to use to write on blank

My wife’s Cricut machine won’t work for my rod decals. It can’t cut the font small enough. What type of “pens” are used to write on blanks? Do you put an epoxy thread layer down first, let dry, then use the pens on that, followed by a final thread finish layer? I definitely won’t be doing the writing. My wife will be.
I’d prefer my wife to make my labels, but I’m not sure my wife and mother in law have the proper type of printer(s) in their craft room to accommodate it. Using Decal Connections for the time being. Re: “Pens” to use to write on blank

I use old fashioned pen and fine nibs.
Ink doesn't work for me. I use OPAQUE fabric paint diluted with water. MUST be OPAQUE. I install short butt wrap (fly rods) and apply finish as a base coat for inscription. Don't put inscription on blank's finish. Then cover with more finish. Fabric paint dries almost immediately. Herb CTS Re: “Pens” to use to write on blank

I used Dr. Ph. Matin’s iridescent calligraphy ink, mostly gold and silver, with a dip pen with a fine nib. Won’t bleed when epoxy is applied. I write directly on the blank. If you make a mistake, DNA will clean it up.

Thanks. Most of my blanks are NFC unsanded, so an epoxy base would be needed I assume. Or, go with sanded/“black mirror” blanks. Thanks fellows!! Re: “Pens” to use to write on blank

Pentel "Milky" pens have been my choice.

A fine point calligraphy pen and Testers paint works best for me. Re: “Pens” to use to write on blank

My hand writing is so bad that I use a Epson PX800 from LTR. Many scrip to choose from, many like a signature plus I can inport pictures or match a boats name script when someone wants it to match his boat as I am now doing for a person who wants two matching rods. Not a bad price for that Epson. Might be something I look into. I only build for my family. I would like to start putting CCS numbers on my builds though. Re: “Pens” to use to write on blank

I have had mine many years with no problems and customer service from Larry is the best and for the record I get no compensation. Re: “Pens” to use to write on blank

I purchased the Sakura gelly roll and the pentel milky and I am happy with the results of both writing on a layer of finish.
I have only practiced on old blanks and haven’t put a layer of finish over it yet. How long does it need to dry before a finish can be applied? Thanks Re: “Pens” to use to write on blank

What size gelly roll do you prefer -- 8 or 10? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
