installing winthrop epic butt

Hello,
installing a winthrop epic butt on a clastar BT6460H. If I want the blank to run the full length of the tube I would need to cut 12 inches or so off the butt of the blank (ID is about 21.5mm).
I'd like to keep the length of the blank as much as possible.

Any experience installing this with less than the full blank length inside the tube? I would think it would be fine to glue it inside the butt about 6 inches or so, considering how ferrules are glued on the ends of blanks.
Any advice/experience would be appreciated.
Thanks Tony

I was under the impression that the Winthrop Epic butts are ferruled. If so, there isn't any need to run the blank full length inside the butt, nor would that be a good idea. Are you having an issue fitting the blank butt to the ferrule?

Perhaps they make a straight-thru butt of which I'm not aware. A little more information would be helpful.

Epic Butt #1 is a through-butt

Epic Butt #2 is ferruled. If you want to maintain as much length as possible, i would use #2.

As a follow-up, it looks like the #2 ferrule wont fit the butt diameter of the blank that Tony mentioned.

If you dont want to shorten the blank, you may need to explore other uni-butts

I did find this tidbit on the rodroom.com regarding how much of the blank needs to be inserted:

"These "Epic" butts will allow the blank to go all the way through, but needs to run at least 2" below the reel seat. "

thanks all. Yes I happen to have some #1 through butts in hand and want use them, so I will shorten the blank to fit through a bit past the seat.
This is in line with what I also learned later from Winthrop (insert past reel seat). This does save me a bit of length and will work fine for this application.
Thanks again Pat and Tom.
