Have been building for about a year now, primarily 3-5 wt glass rods. But I still come back to my helios from a performance standpoint. Any recommendations on blanks that compare to the helios specifically? Would be looking to build in the 4-6 wt range.

The Helios have been around a while and now I think there are two versions. The 6 wt. I tried quite a few years ago was a fast action rod that was at its best close in and just past the mid-range, not a boomer by any means, if this is a description that fits your rod, we have a starting point.

CTS or Epic graphite top models will compete for sure, also the NFC Gama Beta and new Epitome are quite good. IMHO the Batson Eternity2 are not as good an any of the previously mentioned, but are a decent fast rod, have not cast or heard of the new Batson RX10.

Spencer - yes I have a 5wt helios 3F, your description is spot on.
My primary fishing is trout streams in colorado, and the next rod build for me personally will be a 4wt. I have a few other "serious" friends that have requested rod builds for colorado trout as well which is why im asking.

Herb - much appreciated, i have unhid my email. I actually did build a CTS Affinity X 9wt for fishing the keys, love it.
