Using Monofilament on top Tiger wrap

I have done my base wrap for my tiger wrap and have 4 coats of epoxy down. I have tried different sacrificial thread sizes and can't seem to get a good tiger wrap. I do get a great tiger wrap when I wrap 40lb mono over it. I have never used mono as an overwrap and cannot figure out how I would go about securing the Monofilament ends. I'm aware I will need to lay down a black thread in the groves before adding the epoxy. I would love some input from someone who has used monofilament as an over wrap. Thanks. Have you looked at Doc Ski's stuff in the photo section? He has used it for some time, if not there his work is in many other places. Re: Using Monofilament on top Tiger wrap

The sacrificial thread is removed so not sure why you'd want to use mono and leave it in place.
To get the most in terms of a pattern from a Tiger Wrap, you need to heavily and unevenly burnish the underwrap before making the top wrap. The more you disturb it, the more varied the pattern becomes. ............... Re: Using Monofilament on top Tiger wrap

This is another method to do a tiger wrap demonstrated by Doc Ski. My problem is not the method but rather once the mono is in place how do I to smoothly transition my thread up onto to the thicker mono. [www.youtube.com] Re: Using Monofilament on top Tiger wrap

Robert, do these articles address using monofilament as an overwrap on a tiger wrap? If so what website or magazine are you referring to and what does 10/2 and 22/5 refer to ? Re: Using Monofilament on top Tiger wrap

The mono acts to increase the depth effect you would normally need multiple coats of epoxy to accomplish as I understand it. Re: Using Monofilament on top Tiger wrap

Hello Dave.
I just put those up in case someone wanted to read-up on tiger wraps. Volume 10 Issue2 and Volume 22 Issue 5 from RodMaker Magazine. I don't think either one uses momo but is interesting reading. My eyesight is going so I'm having some trouble reading the posts. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Re: Using Monofilament on top Tiger wrap
