Looking to fill a void in my rod inventory. Looking online I see the ERN and CCS numbers are pretty close with the MH blank being somewhat stronger. Is there really that much difference in these 1/4 - 3/4 oz rods besides length? I've built the other 6"9" PB rods and really like the way they handle especially the PB691MXF (everything rod).
Thanks Re: Point Blank PB691MHXF vs PB731MXF Blanks

You’ll love the 731. I keep 3 in the boat all year long Re: Point Blank PB691MHXF vs PB731MXF Blanks

PB 691 mxf. Spinning or casting? I set up mine up as a spinning rod. It works great great with no. 5 countdown Rapalas. Re: Point Blank PB691MHXF vs PB731MXF Blanks

With a 6" length difference, the PB691MHXF will "fish" more powerful than the PB731MXF. Think about it this way: it takes approximately the same amount of grams to deflect the PB691MHXF 2" less than the PB731MXF (since IP is measured when the blank is deflected 1/3 of its length).
In some admittedly limited situations, I've found that cutting about 6" off a 7'3" blank reduced the IP by about 10%. So if the PB691MHXF were extended to the same length as the PB731MXF, it'd be a noticeably more powerful blank. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/11/2024 12:53AM by Patrick Coco. My son loves his two 691's for baitcasting, and I use my 731 baitcaster for mostly cranks. It's length makes it very forgiving for keeping fish "pinned", which is often a worry about Xfast actions. The longer the rod the less of a "problem" Xfast action is in keeping fish pinned. The rods are quite different, so best to build them both. One can never have too many rods. Both are excellent blanks. You’ll not regret either one.

I've built all of my 691's spinning. I do have a PB761MHXF that was my first PB build when they had the Perfect Fit give-away offer. That is my slop and frog rod. Re: Point Blank PB691MHXF vs PB731MXF Blanks

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably go with the 691 as my "light SLOP" rod for small HB frogs and toads on lighter braid. Re: Point Blank PB691MHXF vs PB731MXF Blanks

If you are wanting light slop the 731mxf is definitely NOT the blank you want. I use mine primarily as a bc Shakey head rod Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
