saltwater rod guide

Is one wrap over guide enough for a 30-60 rod

Yes

Size D regular nylon is all you'll need
Providing it's properly sealed and finished

I do all my rods in regular thread anyway.. not just because it's stronger than NCP. it looks better too

One will do but I like to wrap with D thread then seal with PG then over wrap that just on top of the feet leaving a reveal on the toe and near the guide ring. Just a little insurance and it looks pretty good too. Blue under and black over is pretty nice.

It seems that guide foot preparation is extra important in this class of rods. Skipping under-wraps should be no problem if this is done well.
