I broke a 4 piece rod today. This is the 3rd section up from the butt.
The small broken piece is 5 1/4 inches long, and the male ferrule takes up 2 1/4 of that, leaving 3 inches of space for me to cut a old blank and stick it in with glue. I was wondering if 3 inches is long enough to keep strength and integrity? I have a old blank that fits well. TY Also if it matters it's 11 feet long, fast action, 12 to 25lb rated, 2 to 6 oz rated surf rod. Edited 4 time(s). Last edit at 03/02/2023 06:20PM by Aaron Wilde. Re: Broken rod

You should be able to use the process in the Library to fix it. Looks very feasible to me-I've repaired one rod in that area that was much more badly shattered than this one. CCS numbers matched the numbers when new. If you want a little more length for the sleeve you could move that guide away from the break half an inch.
