Hey all,
quick question... do the crb thread carriages from mudhole fit the alps power base?
I really don't like the one that it comes with.
Thanks

Hi Mike,
If possible, can you provide some feedback regarding what you'd like to see different on the thread carriage? We may be redesigning that piece at some point and it would be nice to include as many of the features and functions that builders want. We frequently hear that folks love the Alps machine.....except for the thread carriage. We do have short how-to video being produced for the current carriage that we'll post on this forum when finished. Thanks

Sorry different Mike, but i too have the Alps power wrapper and dont use the thread carriage.
I would love to see a new one with some sort of tension rod on it. Got very used to the hand wrapper and love having the tension rod helping me back up if i need to.
Thanks

Third Mike here :)

- Tension rod mechanism to allow backing up
- magnetic spool tension
- adapter for Maderia 1000 yd spools
- at least 4 spool capability

Al Engling’s RailWrapper pretty much has it solved - perhaps license it from him or whomever currently owns the design (I know HFF is now selling it)

I have the 4 spool CRB. These are the attributes I like about it.

- 4 spool capability. I rarely use more than one, but I keep my 4 favorites on it for convenience.
- Tension rod. Love the fact I can go get a drink of water and be gone an hour, come back and it’s just as I left it.
- Didn’t cost my first born

Not Mike, but I agree with what Third Mike had to say! I love my Alps wrapper but the thread carriage is a huge weak point.

OP - sorry I do not know if the CRB carriage fits the Alps. I think that answer is probably no however….

I added a CRB carriage to mine and the tension rod was a game changer for my novice self.
