Where do you fish? I'm assuming a spinning rod.

Joshua,
I’ve always wanted to fish Pyramid Lake due to it being native waters for the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout, possibly even more rare than Californian Volcano Creek Goldens.
A little more information is needed to offer suggestions for your guide train; reel size, type line (braid, mono / fluoro), line test, blank action and power. At this point, I am thinking you will need 2-3, possibly 4 more guides + a tip top rather than stated (9 including tip top). Waiting for your reply.

Reel- diawa ballistic 2500
Line- diawa j braid 8x w/10lb beyond flora leader line
The 903 hm is a mod fast medium light 9’2 two piece blank rated 1/4 to 5/8 spinning rod.
I fish 10 gram tube jigs and currently am fishing a Phoenix black chrome 8’2 which is a good rod but a bit stiff for my liking.

I have built a number of 9’ light to medium light steelhead rods using 8 to15 # braid on 2500 to 3000 spinning reels. My favorite guide setup is the Fuji KR concept. I will use either KLH16H, KLH8H, and KLH5.5M, or KLH20H, KLH10H, and KLH5.5M for the reduction train, and KB/KT runners in size 4.5 or 5. I normally use 2 KB guides following the reduction train with the rest of the running guides being KTs. For a 9’ rod I normally use 10 to 11 guides total not counting the tip top.
The NFC spacing chart is probably based on using New Guide Concept guides. With the reduction train probably using 25Y, 16Y, 10Y, 8LY guides, and the runners being size 6L guides with a matching tip top.
