Hi,
I am looking for a solid 11' - 11'6" #3 Trout Spey blank manufacturer. Does anyone have a suggestion or one that they have built and like? Thanks in advance. Dan Re: Trout Spey Blank

I have a CTS Affinity DQ 11'-3" 2/3 Spey. I have been using Rio's In Touch Skagit Trout Spey #2 225gr on it. While I am not an expert in Spey style casting and still learning it, it is quite fun to punch out 100ft of line with ease. I have been fishing it with either a small bugger style streamer paired with a soft hackle trailer or a bead head nymph with a soft hackle behind it. The Wulff Ambush taper in 215 grains (I think that is the size) also went out of it well. I've tangled with trout up to 20 inches on it, handled them very well. In a pinch you can drop a 5/6 wt WF line on it for single hand casting dries and get by.
I use it in a couple of spots where a decent sized river enters a large lake, river has some flow control on it, so at times the depth is too much for wading, but the current is not raging and limited backcast space and the fish love to hang on that scum line just out of reach (boat is other option) and the Spey fixed that. I also have an Affinity DQ 11'-6" 4/5 ready to build out for this season, I'm thinking this will be the ticket with some heavier bugger style streamers and a trailer. Might also be enough rod for bass on some larger rivers. Herb can hook you up with the CTS Blanks. Re: Trout Spey Blank
