SeaGuide frame and ring weight chart

Hello,

I just thought I would post a link to all the weights of our frames in all the different materials—as well as rings, tiptops, and even tube lengths.

Interesting knowing what everything weighs.

Rick,
You are to be commended for taking the initiative, time and effort to post the weight of Sea Guides = THANK YOU! I have used Sea Guide guides on a number of builds and have never been disappointed with the quality and they are just plain good-looking as well. They serve to satisfy BOTH FORM AND FUNCTION, priorities to rod builders and our customers.

Good resource. Every guide maker should offer the weights of their guides.

I just post my problem, go back to the Rodboard, and there's all this really good information. Question: Would Rick Hall be the one to answer my questions? I was on SeaGuide's website last night and the information I was looking for wasn't readily available.

Yes, Rick can answer any question pertaining to SeaGuide. He'll also be at the Expo in a few weeks.

Hi Rick,
I was checking out some size 5 guides on the SeaGuide weight charts and this is what I came up with if my math is right and I copied things right.
MKG LA ring .048 g + MKG frame .12 g = .168 g
XOG RA ring .054 g + XOG-N frame .10 g = .154 g
I appreciate these charts. Please let me know if something looks wrong.
Thanks

I like the fact they still sell a 3.5 tube tip top. Others? Not so much.

I wish you would add a high, reverse frame casting guide with a number six ring to your selection. The silicon nitride rings seem really functional from both the use and material specification standpoints.

The SeaGuide HSC Carbon Fiber Casting Reel Seat is my go to for most casting builds. The double nuts do really make a difference and I like the ergonomics. Please offer your “no logo” butt cap option in silver.

This is going to make many people angry because they have not done the testing for themselves. A lot of us make a big deal about weight of the guides. What I have seen is that tip top fly guides and guides with stainless steel inserts weight a lot more than ceramic single foot rings, It is really simple, the more guides you have, the straighter the line is going, It will cast farther because there is less slack or sag between the guides. Unless you try it you really can not comment about how well or well not it works.

Hi Gary,

That looks correct without reweighing them again. They were all an average of 100 pieces. Remember the MKG does not have a deep press like the XOG so that frame has less material.

If you ever have questions please feel free to reach out and I will be happy to help in any way I can.

Hi Kendall,

We are working on some different RV-style guides, not sure when they will hit the market though. Most likely late this fall or early next spring.

Here is a link to the silver buttcaps without a logo, the image is incorrect but the correct product. [rodbuilderswarehouse.com]
