Your CCS Set Up - pics please

I was hoping to get some pics of everyone's set up for how they do their CCS testing. I'm hoping to start doing some of my own and need to try to maximize the space in my basement for it and I'm looking for inspiration.

El - nothing fancy for me. Here is my setup:
- Just a shelf that is about 54” above floor
- two clamps
- some shim wood to level blank at support
- a small level to check blank is level at support (or can use smartphone app)
- some bagged up coins of various counts
- paper clip bent to attach to tip-top and hold bagged pennies
- yardstick to measure deflection
- I use a level app that measures angle of rod tip on smartphone

I’ll try and post a few pics

Support shelf and tools to level up. Not in pic but you need a tape measure or ruler to measure support distance at 10%

Bagged up pennies so don’t have to do much counting….

El - lots of other things you could do. Mudhole has an adjustable support to hold and level rod that probably cheaper than buying shelf and clamps (but the clamps are handy for a lot of other stuff). Also, I have seen graph poster board that you could hang on wall to make it easier to to measure deflection. This setup is working for me right now. I need to get some other stuff rearranged in my basement and get some flooring back down so I'm just gonna stick with this for now....

I would like to present a tip based on my experience. I always had trouble with getting confident with using the AA card, even though I had a level attached to it. I then went to a digital level that has a bubble on it so it can be checked for calibration quite easily. When I started carrying my Android cell phone regularly, I installed a level app on it and started using it, and it was easy to get repeatable numbers. But when I checked it against the digital level I found it off about 2 degrees. I then installed another level app and found the same thing. Off about 2 degrees.

I'm now back to the digital level which was an Amazon purchase for about $25.

I suggest those using electronic devices use only ones that can have their accuracy verified by the good old fashioned bubble level.

Here's a simple one I built back in 2011. No clamping required. Place it at 10% and get the normal CCS measurement. Slide it back and you can get measurements anywhere along the blank . Nice option if you are considering trimming a blank and want to know the resulting CCS before actually cutting the blank.

Looking at the Mudhole one that Kevin posted, it's very similar to mine. For the price, probably less hassle than building one.

Single rod holder, a wooden wedge, friction tape and most importantly a digital level so I can zero it on the blank

David, post the picture in the photo section. Highlight and copy the address of the photo (at the top).

Come back here, Make your comment, then paste the address of the photo into the comment.

There then will be a link in the comment that takes one to the photo.

@ALL thankS for sharing! I like how different they all are and how simple it can be given the space.

@DAVID the only way to post a picture in the thread instead of some obscure way that has never worked for me and makes it so discussions and images for reference are in separate places is to use the app.

Download the app from the Play Srore or App Store and you can add an image directly in the thread from the app.
