Question: Mixing Color Preserver And Non Color Preserve Thres

I just wrapped my 4th rod. I used a black nylon thread non- colorfast thread as the primary and then used a teal colored colorfast thread for the contrasting decorative color and trim bands. I’m curious what the effect will be if I don’t apply color preserver. Will I loose the detail of the wraps where I’ve done the two threads alternating next to each other? Or will the blue/ teal colorfast retain its detail and show through the epoxy finish well? Obviously the safest thing to do would be to apply color preserver on these and retain my detail work. Thanks! Re: Question: Mixing Color Preserver And Non Color Preserve Thres

I never use CP on blk nylon/poly it looks blacker without it. I think you're good to go. I know I would be. Re: Question: Mixing Color Preserver And Non Color Preserve Thres

Don’t need to use color preserver, unless you want to. The black will remain black and the NoCP teal will remain teal. If you were using a different color regular thread for the main wrap then CP could be used to maintain that color. If you don’t use CP the regular color will darken, but still look good.

Ok awesome thanks guys! My main concern was the black color bleeding in to the epoxy and obscuring the teal color and detail in those alternating wraps. Sounds like that shouldn’t be a problem Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
