So I ordered and received unfinished/natural blanks, 3 look great, one has small scarring with little pits in the graphite in several parts of the blank. The look doesn't bother me, just want to make sure it's just as durable (The pitting scares me) and this is normal with unfinished blanks. I tried to see if there was a topic already about this but I'm probably not using the correct technical terms.
All rod's I've built for myself to date have been finished or painted so never had this issue before. Thank you, just want confirmation before starting to build on the blank. Re: Unfinished blank - scarring/pitting normal

If 3 look great, take a few pics of the problem areas on the 4th and send them to the blank supplier. They should be of help. If you tell us what kind of blanks they are maybe some of the guys here will have had experience with them and may know what is to be expected. Re: Unfinished blank - scarring/pitting normal

Are the pits in the carbon, or just in the coating down to the carbon? Re: Unfinished blank - scarring/pitting normal

Patrick,
I would just take the blanks and use 600 - 1200 wet and dry sand paper used wet to sand and polish each of the blanks. Then, just build the rod. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
