Okay it’s almost done, all that’s left is the butt cap, big shout out to Norman for helping me out with those! I’ll add that pic when it’s done…

It feels like a post requires words with a pic to upload

Tip, added some holoshimmer - if this wasn’t for a kid but was a real blank, would a tip wrapping like that make a discernible difference in sensitivity or anything?

Nice Job. I bet the little guy or gal this is for will be very pleased......I do not wrap my tips. Less is more.

Looks good. Tip wrapping is only for looks, I just put a little thread epoxy to smooth the transition from blank to tip and maybe add a little strength.

Very nice, El!

All your research served you well.

Is that hook keeper one of Norm's? He's the man!

Anything that adds weight to the tip section of the rod will affect rod recovery speed and likely sensitivity. How much? Well, it can be measured with TNF. I can see the difference between titanium and SS tiptops on some blanks. I think the lower the power of the tip the more it affects the rod.

Regarding the rest of your wraps, it's coming along well. Keep it up. One thing that will save you some time , thread, and a little weight, you don't need so much wrap length beyond the guide foot. I use only enough to lock the thread to the blank, about 4-5 wraps, and I've never had a problem with it.
