Glue for grips/seats? What diameter guide tube for inshore rods

I don’t use epoxy for putting the grips and reel seats correct? I should be buying something else for that?

Also what size guide tubing should I buy for light tackle inshore and striped bass rods? Medium?

You do use a rod building epoxy, such as RodBond, for installing grips and reel seats. I have no idea what guide tubing is. Please clarify what you are taking about.

I assume you’re talking about the silicon tubing Mudhole sells that you cut small pieces to hold your guides while wrapping. Hard to say which size you need as blanks vary so much as I often use one size for the first few guides closest to the reel seat and the nest smaller towards the tip. Sometimes I’ll use 3 sizes even.

Francis,
Epoxy it a generic term.
There are two kinds of epoxy used in rod buildong:
1. Structural Epoxy to bond reel seat bushings (arbors) and grips to the blank. IMO - West System GFlex 650 is the best epoxy for this job.
2. Epoxyto coat thread wraps .
They are not interchangable.

Guide "tubing". I assume that you are referring to the guide ring sizes. They do not come in Large, Medium and small.
They are sized in milimeters.
The sizes vary depending on the type of rod and the length.

What type of rod are you building.

PS - Ahhhh - is Mr. Ward above correct?- makes sense
