Mike thanks for the reply and it helped me realize I need to restate what I'm up against. When I'm drum fishing with bait I want to use my Avits which are right hand reels. For sight casting I feel it's time to upgrade my reels and I would like to switch over to reeling left handed (I'm about to upgrade my left rotator cuff to a new titanium one and hopefully it will turn a reel better than my old worn out right one :>) !) So the question is aside from a little torque toward the bumper guide side will it matter if I use both right and left hand reels on the same rod. Doing a search on here I did see a post from someone suggesting the idea of just wrapping where the bumper would go and applying epoxy to keep the line from cutting the blank. I like that idea as long as it doesn't introduce rod slap and cut down on casting distance. Can anyone chime in on this ?
