I used Fuji KB 7 runners on my 10’ surf rod that I’ve caught a few bull reds and many small sharks on with no issues so far.

No line stack on this bass rod… I don’t have any spiral wrapped rods for larger fish.

Mike thanks for the reply and it helped me realize I need to restate what I'm up against. When I'm drum fishing with bait I want to use my Avits which are right hand reels. For sight casting I feel it's time to upgrade my reels and I would like to switch over to reeling left handed (I'm about to upgrade my left rotator cuff to a new titanium one and hopefully it will turn a reel better than my old worn out right one :>) !) So the question is aside from a little torque toward the bumper guide side will it matter if I use both right and left hand reels on the same rod. Doing a search on here I did see a post from someone suggesting the idea of just wrapping where the bumper would go and applying epoxy to keep the line from cutting the blank. I like that idea as long as it doesn't introduce rod slap and cut down on casting distance. Can anyone chime in on this ?

That quick 0 to 180 transition doesn’t sit well with me. There’s no way the line won’t rub the blank and if you do hook a 40 pound fish and its pealing braid across the blank with that much tension I don’t see how it wouldn’t saw into the blank. Epoxy isn’t very hard it can be sanded off a blank with little effect.

i offset the stripper similar to you on the few spiral wrapped rods i built. Never any line stacking on the spool. Looks like you get to the bottom in 3 guides. I always did em in 4 guides. Ballpark +/- 30, 80, 135, 170 degrees as a starting point to test. Maybe i could have done away with the 170 but i know it made me feel.better with the straightest line path.
