Which fly reel seat for this grip?

Hi everyone!

I'm relatively new to rod building (doing it less than a year and I'm on my fifth build) and I'm wanting to make a carbon fiber grip 9'0" 5WT. I'd like to use this (https://mudhole.com/products/cfx-composite-carbon-fiber-grips-7-half-wells-fly-with-cutout?variant=33723784167557) grip. My question is what reel seat can I use that will fit the cutout? Preferably from Mudhole.com so that I can just do one order.

I appreciate your help in advance.

Hi - usually the diameter of the cutout/recess in the grip is provided in the description, or you can provide the shop with your desired diameter to match your reel seat and they will cut it to your spec. Likewise the diameter of the insert on the reel seat should be provided and can be compared to the grip cutout. If this is uncertain you can always call Mudhole and ask them if the parts you select are compatible and if they can check it before sending. They were very helpful when I was selecting parts for my first spinning rod grip/seat.

If you can find this grip , I believe the specs say that the recess diameter is 0.795 . Just check the brands of reel seats you're interested in . Most of the uplocking seats will have a hood and it's diameter should be listed in the specs . For instance , American Tackle's U5 has a hood diameter of 0.772 and should work with little if any modification . Not suggesting this seat , just an example . Hope you can find the grip .
Ron
