Gudebrod Thread

I recently inherited some spools of Gudebrod's champion thread. These are 1 ounce wooded spools that are marked Nylon on one end and stamped NCP on the other end. I am going to test the thread, just wondering why the spools are marked both.

Nylon and NCP really have nothing to do with each other. Nylon: material, NCP: no color preserver required thread that keeps it's shown color when finish is applied. Regular nylon, or polyester darken and become opaque when finish is applied.

NCP on a spool of thread means "No Color Preservative" required.

Thanks. Being a novice builder when I buy nylon I know if I want to keep the color of the thread I need CP. Looking forward to using the threads.

NCP is also nylon, but it has a chalk base that allows it to maintain its color without the need for color preserver. However, it does not have the sparkle of regular non-NCP nylon.
