Any tips or thoughts on wrapping a nfc X-ray blank with the ridges is this a big issue or just use a larger thread? Re: Wrapping x ray blank with ridges

Or wrap the opposite direction of the ridges. This may require that you flip the rod end for end depending on which way you need to wrap, or you can wrap up the foot. Not the best way to do it in my opinion, but it can be done.

I've wrapped quite a few ridged rod blanks over many years, this is not the first time it's been done, I really haven't had an issue doing it. I have a NFC APFG to wrap once all the parts are here, so I guess I'll revisit it again, either way it's just not that big a deal. Re: Wrapping x ray blank with ridges

Brandon,
I just finished a Cashion build, its on the dryer right now turning. These come with VERY pronounced ridges, seemingly running one direction: grabs you hands feeling one direction, just bumpy feeling going the other. I used size A threads just fine. You do need to be careful packing your wraps, when you place your straight edge of the packing tool against the wraps and push... the tool will grab the ridges. This was the only issue I seen, I wrapped both directions just fine. DR Re: Wrapping x ray blank with ridges

I have two NFC LMX fly rods to wrap soon, as well as an Epic blank, so i will find out soon enough. But I would think if you find it difficult due to the ridges, just move to a larger thread. Re: Wrapping x ray blank with ridges

In the future order the mirror finish that has no ridges. I can see no functional advantage to the ridges; but it does save NFC some processing labor/$$. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
