Hi Everyone,
I am going to building a 7' ultra light rod for Crappie fishing. This rod will be for casting jigs only, no bobber fishing. In order to get the most distance from the shore, do I want a mod action? or a fast action? Thank you for your input. Re: Ultra Light rod for casting jigs

The actual power of an UL blank is all over the place as are actions listed but not really achieved, how light are you throwing and will there be a tender bait involved from time to time? The Batson UL popping blanks are nice, throw beetle spins, road runners, etc. very well also. Re: Ultra Light rod for casting jigs

Spencer is right on his power comment, IMHO, and without CCS data I think it best to choose the rod based on the recommended lure weights for the rods. Try to get as close to the center of the range as you can. But rods can cast outside the ranges recommended with a little technique adjustment. Re: Ultra Light rod for casting jigs

For real light lures, 1/32 and below a softer action, moderate, will cast further but will be harder to control. IMO Re: Ultra Light rod for casting jigs
