Picking an X-Ray blank for throwing pompano jigs in the 1/4-3/8 range. I work the jigs back slowly but with very sharp pops off the sand bottom. Looking in the 7'-7'2 range going to match with a 3k Luvias or Vanford 10lb braid. I've added a few NFC blanks to my cart but can't figure out which one to use for this application. My favorite for that was the G Loomis GWR 941S GLX which some still have in the store but appear to be dropped now. I only mentioned the GLX because it was originally in many carbons, over many species-specific rod lines but stayed longest here. So, you are looking for an X fast blank rated in the 1/4 - 1 oz range, though I think an ounce was pushing it. The 941 was designed much like a hot shot blank light tipped progressing into a stiff butt. Maybe the MB724-1 Xray, if you can live with an HM blank, the MB705-1 I think would work well, a bit faster tip and I think just a bit more backbone. Edited 2 time(s).
