Someone gave me his broken two piece surf rod to try to mend. The top part was cracked about six inches up from the bottom of the half. He wants to keep the rod 2 piece. I was thinking of gluing half a dowel into the bottom half of the rod and leaving the other half of the dowel to enter the top half. What do you guys think? What should the dowel be made of? You can't just stick something in there that doesn't share the same properties and characteristics of the rod and expect it to work. It won't.

I repaired a badly shattered fly rod for which I had CCS numbers using the O'Quinn method and after repair the numbers were the same. Obviously it had to be a little heavier, but the CCS numbers were unchanged. It seems to cast the same as it did before repair. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
