fly real seat installation question

This is the first rod build that I'm doing where the real seat requires a recessed fore grip for the seat to fit. My question is how do I keep the epoxy from getting into the (what I would call) the forward hood that fits into the recessed grip? Because if epoxy get in there then the fly reel won't properly fit, if this makes any sense to you.
Thanks Re: fly real seat installation question

There's no reason that any epoxy should get inside the forward hood. You'll install the seat, with the forward hood already mounted to the seat barrel. Then slide the grip on afterwards. Mop up any excess epoxy as the grip comes down onto the forward hood. It's more than okay to put just a thin layer of epoxy on the hood exterior. Wipe up anything that squeezes out. No reason for any epoxy to get inside that hood opening.
