Need some help finding the choker guide placement. In the past I've done 27x the reel spool diameter with good results. This rod is going to be paired with a Saragossa 14k, which 27x the spool diameter would be 72 inches and thats longer than the reel seat to tip top. What's the best way to go about finding the choker guide placement? Re: Fuji New Guide Concept

The tiptop will be your choke guide in that instance.

I imagine the type of line and the diameter of the line you plan to use on this rod would influence your guide choice, and if you plan to use monofilament line the ambient temperature has considerable influence on how the line behaves and what guide sizes function best. Re: Fuji New Guide Concept

The rod is a 7’6” Black Hole nano popping rod. I’m using 60lb braided line for it. Re: Fuji New Guide Concept

"Best" guide placement is a function of the user's capability and style of casting. Were you to tape your choker guide to the blank and test cast it for distance you could certainly move your choker guide to locate the best location - for you. Re: Fuji New Guide Concept

From 32 degrees F up water temp, I don't worry about ambient temperature on my monofilament line choice.
Below 32 degrees F, I don't go fishing. Therefore, . . . . Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
