I recently pointed this very same issue out.
Let's just hope that software updating is coming. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/17/2022 11:47AM by Kent Griffith. Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

I’m still on-the-fence. There are many, many sayings / phrases out there; “don’t knock it unless you’ve tried it” and “can’t teach an old dog new tricks” both have merit and relevance here. I am always open to change unless simply for change's sake. We’ll see. Mark Talmo FISHING IS NOT AN ESCAPE FROM LIFE BUT RATHER A DEEPER IMMERSION INTO IT!!! It also bumps a thread from page three back to the top. How many times have we heard "that topic has already been discussed"? This new format allows a "newbie" to search the archives and ask a pertinent question on the old thread and get answer. Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

The topics moving to the top is really an integration with the App - specifically posting the pictures from the photo gallery into the app, so that the forum is not inundated with new posts on the main page.
We are still working through a number of updates, so please keep the feedback coming. Best, Aleks Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

20+ years of overwhelming success is not an accident. Everything I ever did with this forum was panned by somebody, but it worked and produced the most popular rod building forum in history.
But the new app may require some changes. Things do change. ........... Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

Nothing worse than a topic falling off the first page and dying a forum death. TTT FTW...finally! Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

I have been with this site almost from the start. I like the new change and wanted this from the start along with some others however that wasn't what the rules were and since this was almost the only game in town I/we adapted. Thanks for the change. Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

Thanks for the > change. When this site came online there were another twenty or so rod building message boards. All had topics that bounced back to the top when a reply was made. All but a couple have faded into the distance. What Tom did with this site cannot be argued. After twenty plus years it has remained the most popular rod building site on the internet. Second guess all you want but he apparently knew what he was doing. I'm always open for change and am willing to see how things go. Its still the best rod building group going. Hope that does not change. Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

Rod building has run out of new topics, so we bring back the old ones? Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

To the top helps keep track of active threads. It can also keep dead horses being beaten. Everything has a trade off.
I think the biggest win of site design is the simple list of sponsors on the left. It has been the only site I go to that I actually go to the site to find a vendor because of the simple format. Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

The sponsor list on the left has been there since 2001. Not new. But I do agree that it is the easiest way to find the manufacturer and dealer sites. Always has been.
There has always been a "follow topic" option for each topic so you could always get updates even years out if somebody went back and added something new to an old topic. The new system of bouncing a topic back to the top seems to be keeping just three or four topics alive even though it is only one or two people back and forth on those old topics. The new stuff gets pushed down and out of view. Re: Thank You For Moving Topics

Not sure how other peoples' systems work but on my pad view of the forum there is a "New" notation next to each topic anytime a new post is made so there was no reason to have anything go back up to the top. When I see "New" that is notification enough. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
