signature wraps

Do any of you builders do signature wraps on graphite or do you leave signature wraps for just the bamboo rods ?

I just refurbished a bamboo rod and came up with a significant signature wrap pattern and it looked great!

I know the rod police will not come calling on me but just wondered if any of you apply sig wraps on graphite.

Im trying to develop a style of construction to sell rods as a hobby bussiness eventually after a few more projects. (I have a few weak areas yet mainly finish work)

Many many thanks "John"

I wanted a wrap that I could do on those rods where the customer either did not want, or would not pay for, an intricate decorative butt wrap or weave. But I still wanted it to look good. The rod on the cover of the Nov/Dec '99 RodMaker shows the result. I guess I used that wrap on 75% of all the rods I ever built. It's got lots of inlays and trims and yet only takes maybe 10 minutes or so to do. Looks good, intricate and elegant. After a while it became identified with rods I had made.

You can see the wrap on the website if you don't have the magazine. www.rodmakermagazine.com and look at the second cover on the intro page.

I think it's a good idea for any rod builder to have something on all his or her rods that tends to be identifiable with him.
